Abstract
This poem candidly explores the experience of a veteran educator confronting self-doubt and Imposter Syndrome as she prepares to attend a prestigious fellowship, ultimately expressing her late-blooming passion for learning and her desire for authenticity in both teaching and self-understanding.
Author Biography
An educator for over 34 years and current AP Lit & Comp and English 11 teacher in SE Virginia, Ms. Krauss is honored to have had publications in Louisiana Lit, the Arkansas Review, Salvation South, Eclectica, One Art, PMS & G, Story South, The South Carolina Review, Mid/South Sonnet Anthology, and Highland Park Poetry, among a few. The Poetry Box released her chapbook, The Old Folks Call It God’s Country(2024). Fernwood will publish her full-length book (Mountain.Memory.Marsh.) in 2025. Carol was born in S.C. to mystical mountain people, raised in NC, and attended Clemson University.. She currently lives with her St. Bernard, Martha June and multiple cats.
