Abstract

The new technology of AI can be used to address an old need: the building of student background knowledge in order to improve comprehension and maximize ability to make inferences. Examples are shared and discussed.

Author Biography

Bruce Powers and Keisha Motley teach 8th grade at Booker T. Washington Middle School in Newport News, VA.  Bruce is a second-year teacher and Keisha is in her 18th year. Keisha brings a range of experience in elementary and secondary education at multiple schools and grade levels. Bruce is a career-switcher with 25 years of college teaching experience.
