Abstract

This is a book review of Just Read It: Unlocking the Magic of Independent Reading in Middle and High School Classrooms by Jarred Amato in 2024. Reviewed by a high school Reading Specialist, this thorough review of Amato's book for educators includes many strategies and tools for having an effective independent reading program in the classroom.

Author Biography

Mrs. Cinde Wollenberg serves as the Reading Specialist at Independence High School in Ashburn, VA. She received a BA in English and a BA in Vocal Music from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA and holds a Masters in Reading from UVA. Prior to working for Loudoun County, Mrs. Wollenberg worked in Rockingham County and Shenandoah County. She has spent over twenty five years in education as a classroom English teacher and a Reading Specialist. She has taught all levels of English Language Arts students from grades 6-12.
