Abstract

This is a book review of Teaching in Rural Places: Thriving in Classrooms, Schools, and Communities, a first-of-its-kind textbook geared for preservice teachers interested in teaching successfully in rural schools.

Author Biography

Rachelle Kuehl, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral associate and project manager of the Appalachian Rural Talent Initiative at Virginia Tech. Her articles about literacy instruction and rural education have appeared in journals such as The Reading Teacher, the English Journal, Journal of Children's Literature, Theory & Practice in Rural Education, and English in Education as well as in previous issues of the Virginia English Journal.
