Abstract

This graphic novel for supporting mental health is for anyone that feels as though their stress is eating them alive, they have no power over their own minds, or there is no hope. This story may be majorly based in fantasy, but the damage that these problems can have is very real, especially during adolescence. This knight’s story is one of experiential avoidance, finding support, and navigating their emotions, doubts, and fears as they make the journey to change. This is meant to be a place where you can explore how you approach stress and mental health, challenge internal or external stigma, and think about how to make the most of every moment. It serves as an allegory for one's struggle with mental health, stress, burnout, or strong emotions. This story also includes aspects of Prochaska’s stages of change, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Most importantly, it is a call to action to seek support when needed and to give ourselves a place to be heard.
