Abstract

My Honors Project involved the laboratory-based study of the binding constants of EDTA, ethylenediamine, ammonium oxalate, acetyl acetone and 1,10-Phenanthroline with Cu2+ ions. The data was obtained with the help of potentiometric titrations with a copper ion-selective electrode and was then used to calculate the binding constants of the organic ligands. The purpose of the project was to obtain the binding constants, compare them with known values and then examine the relationship between the constants and the ligands.
