Abstract
The following paper is designed to provide detailed information about the muscles of the human posterior torso. The origins, insertions, and functions of each muscle are listed. In addition, the blood and nerve supply to each muscle will be provided. All of the drawings are based off of a recent cadaver dissection. After all of the skin and fatty tissue was removed, each of the muscles listed below were carefully separated and identified. Some of the most superficial muscles were completely deflected in order to gain access to the underlying, deep muscles of the back. The following descriptions are a direct reflection from the dissection project.
