Abstract
Leaders need to have the capability to persuade others of their perspective. In a group discussion format, participants argued for a chosen social prison program, and an assigned social education program. As predicted, individuals with low levels of agreeableness and low openness procured the greatest funding for their chosen program. Labels can also impact how individuals perceive a stimulus. After the group discussion, participants rated the worthiness of the social education programs with half of them believing they were liberal-based programs, and half believing they were conservative-based programs. Person-focused programs were rated more favorably when labeled as liberal, whereas facility-focused programs were rated more favorably when labeled as conservative.
