Abstract

This project was created to prepare materials and resources for a better foundation for a newly recruited Area Coordinator. Being in an administrative role, it can be massively helpful to have guiding examples and mentor texts to help curate the best possible work from an Area Coordinator’s staff of Resident Advisors. Developing documents for reference could be vital to effectively fostering a supportive and well-organized residential community. This is done by focusing on aspects of the role, such as a lesson plan for community meetings, guidelines for organizing staff training sessions or bonding activities, a template for an active event proposal that would be utilized by RAs, as well as possible methods of assessing and providing feedback to staff members. The project also observed and assessed different software for functions such as file sharing and group-based communication to see which applications would be best suited for a tight-knit community of higher education administrative staff.
