Abstract
This study used multiple regression to identify the best predictors of length of stay for children in treatment foster care. A sample of 125 former clients of a treatment foster care program were studied, using data that were collected by program staff at intake, during treatment, and at the time of discharge. Variables that were considered included demographic traits, birth family problems, and referral problems.
Results indicated that length of stay was best predicted by the amount of time a child spent in out of home placements prior to admission into treatment foster care and the reported number of conduct problems.
