Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to study the reaction of acid phosphatase with p-nitrophenyl phosphate (PNPP) substrate to yield p-nitrophenol (PNP) and a free phosphate. Km and V max values of the reaction were determined using the Lineweaver-Burke plot and the Hanes plot. Various inorganic anion and organic acid inhibitors were added, and Km and V max values were compared to those of the original reaction in order to determine the type of inhibition occurring.
