Abstract
This project is my solution to my longing for alternative glaze options and a better understanding of the mechanics of making a working glaze. In the completion of this project, I researched aspects of and contents of glazes. I then took the theoretical ideas from my research and applied them in the practical setting of the studio, systematically mixing samples of glazes. The minimum number of samples I set for myself was 300, with the ultimate goal of creating glazes to apply to the pottery in my senior thesis art exhibition. This report will present the results of my research, my approach to mixing glazes, a reflection on the success of my experimentation, and appendices containing images of the glaze samples themselves and the recipes for recreating those glazes.
