The Bridgewater College men's golf team began playing intercollegiate matches in spring 1956. The team won the Mason-Dixon Conference Golf Championship in 1957. Jack Bushong may have been the first men's golf coach at Bridgewater College. Many students remember Political Science and History professor Lamar B. Neal as a beloved golf coach. Bridgewater College historian Dr. Francis F. Wayland wrote that the team usually played home matches at the Ingleside Country Club near Staunton, Va. during these early years.
Bridgewater College added women's golf to the intercollegiate sports roster during the 2012 - 2013 season.
Bridgewater College continues to offer women's and men's golf as competitive intercollegiate sports. Only men's golf is shown in this gallery because this gallery is made from a collection of archival photographs taken from the 1950s until the early 1990s.
