Abstract
Early American German-language almanac donated to Bridgewater College Special Collections in 2017 by Donna Spitler Fields and Joyce Spitler Nicholson. It is an example of Pennsylvania-German printing in fraktur typeface. The printer was a member of the famous Christopher Sower family. He revived his family's publication of the almanac after the original almanac's publication ceased during the American Revolution. The almanac was passed down in the Spitler family of Page County, Virginia. A birth announcement for Isaac Spitler (1794- 1862) appears on the February calendar. Spitler was active in the Church of the Brethren in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The almanac was conserved and digitized in 2018 with funding by Fields and Nicholson and Bridgewater College Special Collections.
